Corned Beef and Green Beer

Corned Beef and Green Beer

🍀🍺 Corned Beef and Green Beer 🍺🍀

While Corned Beef and Cabbage is often associated with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the United States, it certainly can be enjoyed year-round. It’s a hearty and satisfying dish, loved by many, and almost impossible to mess up!

Now, Green Beer is definitely a once-a-year tradition. Serving green beer on St. Patrick’s Day emerged in the US as a fun and festive way to celebrate the holiday. While it may not have deep historical roots, it has become a popular tradition associated with the celebrations. One drop of food coloring in a glass of beer does not affect the taste, and adds a magical element to the festivities!

Cheeseburger in Paradise: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett

Cheeseburger in Paradise: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett

❤️ 🍔 Cheeseburger in Paradise 🍔 ❤️

A Big Warm Bun and a Huge Hunk of Meat
Medium Rare with Muenster’d be nice
Heaven on Earth with an Onion Slice
I like mine with Lettuce and Tomato
Heinz 57 and French-Fried Potatoes
Big Kosher Pickle and a Cold Draft Beer

I join Parrot Heads worldwide in mourning the loss of our beloved Jimmy Buffett.

Jimmy’s passing has truly saddened me, as I’m sure it has for many of you. His music has held an extraordinary influence over our lives, instilling in us the courage to embark on incredible adventures, and crafting countless cherished memories.

Oddly enough, in the wake of this somber news, I found myself drawn to the kitchen to prepare and savor a straightforward yet comforting cheeseburger—a symbolic tribute to “Cheeseburger in Paradise.”

Drunken Beans Soup

We served Frijoles Borrachos smothered in melted Oaxaca cheese with a side of warm flour tortillas the other night. It is an uncomplicated, tasty first course/side dish that appeals to almost everyone. But if I am going to cook dried beans, I am going to make plenty, as they take hours to soak and cook. Might as well make enough for other delicious dishes.

This time I turned the remaining pinto beans into a Drunken Beans Soup. The idea is similar to frijoles borrachos with beer as a key ingredient, but the beans are simmered with vegetables and spices then puréed to a coarse soupy texture.

The soup itself is quite delicious, but it is the garnishes that take it to another intoxicating level – Mexican crema, radish, pickled red onion, serrano chile, fried tortilla strips, cotija cheese, lime juice, and cilantro.

Beer Braised Bratwurst, Beet Greens, Red Cabbage, Horseradish

Bratwurst Braised in Beer
Beet Greens and Red Cabbage, Fresh Horseradish

Sausage lovers rejoice! The classic combination of red cabbage and sausage takes on a new twist with the addition of beet greens. Here, bratwurst is braised in beer and paired with red cabbage, beet, and onion. Sweet, sour, and spice flavors come from brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and allspice. Sautéed beet greens add a garlicky earthiness while freshly grated horseradish’s hot, sharp notes balance the rich juicy beer-braised brats. Outstanding!
