Cheeseburger Bloody Mary
with sweet cherry peppers and bread & butter pickle chips
What beverage do you most associate with vacation? Margarita, Piña Colada, Champagne, Chilled Dry Rosé, Sangria? The Bloody Mary is definitely on that list. Because it is a cocktail that one imbibes in the daytime. Have you ever ordered a Bloody Mary at night? No, that just doesn’t sound copacetic. It’s summer vacation time – and we are drinking Bloody Marys, outside, in the sunshine. Cheers!
But I simply cannot serve any ordinary Bloody Mary to my guests. Their vacation here must be special so these daytime drinks are served with a unique garnish. A cheeseburger, yep, that’s right, a cheeseburger. Bartenders, feel free to steal this idea.
Cheeseburger Bloody Mary Recipe
Cheeseburger :
- ground beef
- worcestershire sauce
- dijon mustard
- bread crumbs
- egg
- salt and pepper
Form the beef mixture into little plump patties and bake at 400 until just cooked through. Top the warm burgers with a slice of cheddar cheese. To assemble the cheeseburgers – spread a bit of dijon mustard on the mini-bun, add a couple leaves of arugula, then top with the burger. Slide a skewer through a sweet cherry pepper, then through the cheeseburger, then through three bread & butter pickle chips. (My mini-bun “recipe” can be found here).
See how the pickles help keep the bun out of the liquid?
I like the idea of topping the cheeseburger with a cherry. A sweet cherry pepper. Cherry Peppers are large, red and green, pumpkin-shaped chili peppers. While other varieties of cherry peppers are hot, cherry peppers are characterized by their mild, sweet and aromatic flesh. Sweet pickles and cherry peppers balance perfectly with a spicy Bloody Mary.
- grey goose vodka
- V8 vegetable juice
- prepared horseradish
- worcestershire sauce
- tabasco sauce
- celery salt
- squeeze of lime
- olive and lime garnish
McIntosh will guard the Bloody Marys while you take a dip in the pool…enjoy your summer vacation!
