Ethel M Chocolate & Wine Experience

We recently attended the Ethel M Chocolate & Wine Experience, and it truly exceeded our expectations. What we assumed would be a straightforward tasting turned into a relaxed, informative, and genuinely fun way to savor chocolate alongside perfectly paired wines.

The guided tasting lasts about 40–50 minutes and features five seasonal chocolates, each paired with a wine selected by Ethel M’s Chief Chocolatier, Mark Markey. Along the way, we learned how chocolate is sourced, refined, and made—without it feeling technical or heavy.

The focus was on how to taste chocolate and wine together: noticing texture, balance, sweetness, and the subtle flavor notes that make each pairing unique.

The holiday lineup included:

• White Chocolate Peppermint Silk, paired with Prosecco

• Milk Chocolate Bananas Foster Caramel, paired with Sauternes

• Milk Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel, paired with Sandeman Tawny Port

• Dark Chocolate Brownie Batter Truffle, paired with Zinfandel

• Dark Chocolate Lemon Satin Crème, paired with Moscato d’Asti

Each pairing felt intuitive once tasted together. The wines never overwhelmed the chocolate and instead highlighted different flavors and textures.

One of the biggest perks comes afterward: complimentary, no-wait entry to the Holiday Cactus Garden. The garden spans three acres and features more than 300 different species of cacti and succulents, all wrapped in sparkling lights for the holidays. It’s leisurely, enchanting, and beautifully lit.
