Dungeness Crab and Avocado Toasts start with a slice of perfectly toasted artisan bread. A layer of creamy, seasoned avocado creates a luscious base that is topped with a generous portion of Dungeness crab meat salad. Named after the port of Dungeness, Washington, this crab has long been a favorite for seafood lovers, especially along the West Coast. Crab and Avocado Toasts Recipe

Crab and Avocado Toasts

Dungeness Crab Salad
  • dungeness crab meat (both leg and shoulder)
  • mayonnaise
  • lemon juice
  • old bay seasoning
  • dijon mustard
  • tabasco sauce
  • very thinly sliced celery rib

Place mayonnaise in a medium bowl. Season lightly with lemon juice, old bay, dijon mustard, and a couple dashes of tabasco. Mix in celery. Finally fold in the crab meat to coat with the mayonnaise mixture. (Break up leg meat if pieces are too big).

Crab and Avocado Toasts

Avocado Mash
  • ripe avocado
  • olive oil
  • lemon juice
  • sea salt and fresh ground pepper

Mash avocado to a chunky consistency in a bowl with a fork. Season with olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper.

Radish Matchsticks
  • red radishes, sliced into matchsticks
  • lemon juice
  • olive oil
  • sea salt
  • fresh snipped dill

Toss radishes with a very light amount of lemon juice and olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and dill.

Crab and Avocado Toasts

To Compose

Brush bread with olive oil. Toast in a toaster oven until golden. Let cool slightly. Spread avocado mash on the toasts. Spoon crab salad on top of the avocado. Place radish matchsticks on top of the crab. Finish the toasts with a pinch of chile flakes and a sprinkle of chives.
